Stars'n'Lights Tour

A breathtaking tour of magical night-time sights. Take a bushwalk to spot nocturnal wildlife, marvel at the Perth skyline renowned as the 'City of Lights' and take in the wonders of the galaxy at the Perth Observatory.

Tour Highlights

Perth became known as the 'City of Lights' after locals lit their houses to honour John Glen, the first American to orbit the earth, as he passed over. Since then the magical skyline and clear starry skies visible from the Perth Hills has delighted both locals and travellers alike.

The Perth Hills Stars'n'Lights Tour commences with an evening bushwalk through the Perth Hills National Park, near Kalamunda, on the lookout to spot some of Australia's nocturnal animals that roam the forest.

An Aussie BBQ/Platter to satisfy any appetite will follow and then it is onto the Perth Observatory, the oldest continuously operating professional observatory and Western Australia's premier astronomical institution. Here you can view the stars and planets of the southern hemisphere and be treated to an informative presentation from local professional Astronomers. All Star Viewing Nights will proceed as scheduled even if they are interrupted by cloudy weather. In these circumstances a "virtual" astronomy experience using a computer display and expert commentary will be provided
We then make our way back along the scenic and historic Zig Zag drive, viewing the stunning evening lights of the Perth metropolitan area and stopping off for refreshments and a chance to view the 'Jewellery Box'.
